Accredited Outdoor Learning Courses!
Forest Schools is not the only way to get children outside! We are now offering Accredited Training for Outdoor Learning. These are becoming increasingly popular with educational professionals who want to expand their knowledge and confidence in delivering all areas of the curriculum in their outside space as well as improving their own skills in how to improve their local green environments for learning and biodiversity.
We currently offer a range of accredited courses for you to get your children learning outside:
OCN Level 2 Outdoor Learning Practitioner
Get the spark back into teaching by learning how low cost outside activities can be linked to all areas of the Curruluim. This enjoyable 2.5 day course focuses on developing practical hands-on skills to build confidence and ability in using the outdoor environments. You will learn how to manage and improve these for teaching & learning.

- Sustainable Use of Natural Resources
- 6 months completion time
- Portfolio of evidence to complete
- Aged 16 years or over
- Level 1 qualification or equivalent (1 GCSE)
- Current DBS Check
- A suitable First Aid qualification is useful to complement this course
OCN Level 3 Outdoor Learning Coordinator
Suitable for those looking for a whole school approach to teaching the Curruluim outside. This course follows on from the Level 2 and looks at the context behind outdoor learning, how you can enthuse and motivate your staff to embed this as a whole school strategy and plan for an all year round programme of outdoor learning.

- Established link with a client group and at least two years’ experience with client groups
- 21 years or over at the start of the course.

Short Course Description
An introduction to Safe fire lighting a fire and the different ways of cooking.
We will spend the day:-
- exploring different ways to start a fire – the pros and cons of natural / man made tinder’s
- Different fire lays for a variety of cooking methods.
- Fire safety.
- Food hygiene.
- How to introduce fire to a group of children.
All drinks, refreshments and of course food cooked by yourselves on an open fire will be supplied.
Team building principles.
- Using teambuilding to create and assess learning.
- Developing teambuilding games for different purposes/environments.
- Delivering a teambuilding game to a group.
• Principles of reflection, reflecting on own development through teambuilding engagement.

Delivering EYFS outdoors
Ensuring young children get time to discover the outdoor world is essential to their development and growth.
This course will give you the basics to get started in your outdoor natural journey. We will spend our time looking at and taking part in activities which cover the whole of the framework. We will spend time discussing the challenges you might face and how you can overcome them to create a successful natural space.
Clay Oven Building
Come along to tis fantastic course and learn how to build a cob oven from scratch. We will spend the day looking at all aspects of oven making, including using the best raw ingredients and how to source them, how to mix your cob and build your oven. The day will be very practical, wear old clothes and wellies has you will be treading the cob and getting your hands dirty.
Hot and cold refreshments and a healthy lunch provided.
The course also includes a free invite has guests for the first firing of the pizza oven where you will learn the best ways to light the pizza an of course sample the first pizza to be cooked.
Everyone wants to be a Viking!
Don’t look through text books – get children outside to find out how they really lived.
Spend the day with a Viking – Amongst outdoor activities suitable for teaching the history curriculum outside you will lean the basic principles of fire building, natural dying and simple pewter casting using cuttlefish. This exciting opportunity is strictly limited to 6 places so please book early. Includes a simple Viking lunch cooked over the fire.
